Leadership, Courage, Integrity
Growing up in the small dairy and timber community of Tillamook, Oregon, I learned early on the value of hard work. As a young boy, my grandparents owned a dairy farm and at the age of 14, I went to work on a dairy. We also had our own small farm of 10 acres with a milk cow we milked by hand twice a day, pigs, chickens, rabbits, ducks, turkeys, horses and beef cattle. We also hunted, fished, gardened, and canned the vast majority of our food. As a 13-year wrestler, I developed self-motivation, drive, and determination. Those early life experiences helped me develop a strong, never-give-up work ethic that I’ve carried with me throughout my adult life.
